This is a godam masterpiece in minimalism. So few elements but so much vibe. I had this on repeat when it came out. I saw them live at Terminal 5 in college. I really don't think any of their subsequent albums reached this peak (tho I suppose I haven't given all of them the same chance I gave this record) and also Jamie's solo stuff I find less compelling. But this one, my god, it really hits. I listened to this on big speakers recently and was surprised by how much sub was going on in one of the tracks, maybe Shelter? Never noticed that before.

OK, I'm back to my 17 years old.

how less can be excellent

Some really iconic tracks on this one. My personal favorite being VCR.

I didn't "get" the hype around this record AT ALL when it first came out. It's so sparse and empty - it didn't...
