Illinois is my all time favorite album for a myriad of personal reasons, but damn if this isn't a perfect example of how great of a songwriter and musician Sufjan is. Lyrically gutting with lush-but-also-simple arrangements, it's a tough but rewarding one to revisit. Very excited to hear the 14-minute version of Fourth of July when the reissue hits.
