Perfume Genius has a way of creating an atmosphere with his instrumentals and vocals alongside saying a lot with the minimal amount of... words. For me, the song that I enjoyed the most is “Full On” as it shows multiple sides of masculinity, which is great to hear in songs, with the stereotypical masculine football player thrown into the ground and the narrator of the song going to comfort him: “Ripped from the field and freaking out / I'll be a still valley.” Another highlight for me comes from “Me & Angel” as it tackles the passage of time/aging and remaining on the same team as the subject despite everything that happened: “He looks like me, or how I used to be / And that's one thing, I should've known it'd come down to / But I'm on your side.” Lastly, I like the hope of renewal thanks to time on “Clean Heart” with “Time, it makes a clean heart / When you're miles away from it all and the dream is gone.”
