i mean, where to begin. my mom would always put on simon & garfunkel records growing up. it’s nostalgic for me, but it... took a while to even give this a shot. I was on tour in college and we drove through memphis and my band mate decided to put this on as we drove through actual graceland. At first I was slightly confused as it sounded heavily inspired by african music, but i fell in love with it nonetheless. I’ve now learned more of the backstory of paul simon, the extraordinary more talented member of S&G, (sorry Art), traveling to south africa and working with local musicians to craft this incredible mix of things that shouldn’t work, but somehow do. It has since become one of my favorite albums of all time. You can hear its influence everywhere and despite some of it not aging super well, it sure was ahead of its time. show more
