After waiting aeons for the new Cure record I was initially transported back to the 90's and the melancholy of my teenage years. As the album progressed it began to irk me - this felt less like a new album and more like an unreleased collection of b-sides from the Disintegration album. Sonically, the instrumental mix feels strained and yet the sound is undeniably the Cure. Robert's lyrics and voice is as comforting as ever and the album feels both familiar and foreign. I'm really not sure how to feel about it. Might just another two-three more loops around the album.
