The 2018 album Daytona solidified Pusha T's reputation as a master storyteller of the drug trade. The album cover, which drew controversy for its use of an image connected to Whitney Houston, and the scathing "Infrared" track targeting Drake, generated significant publicity. However, the music lived up to the hype. Daytona's lyrics are exceptional, delving into the familiar drug game lore Pusha T is known for. The production, curated by Mike Dean and Kanye West, is also superb. Despite its brevity as a 7-track EP with only 2 featured artists (Rick Ross and Kanye West), the album packs a powerful punch. Pusha T's command of his craft is on full display, cementing his status as a preeminent voice in hip-hop.
