LF's The Cool is an excellent follow-up to his debut, Food & Liquor, nominated thrice, including one for Best Rap Album. Soaring above the sophomore slump, Lupe pushes good dopeness on tracks like "Superstar," "Paris, Tokyo," and a personal favorite, "Gold Watch." Lupe's is a concept album with cinematic flair, well-executed, which influenced a broader generation, including Kid Cudi, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar, to think beyond the single's format and challenge their audiences with emotionally driven narratives spanning across their works.
