When the singles were first being released, my initial impression was that Jamie was releasing a future funk album about a decade too... late. The singles “Baddy on the Floor” and “Life” sound similar to music that artists like Yung Bae and Macross 82-99 were releasing all throughout the 2010s. However, I’ve come to appreciate that this album takes a lot of that 80’s-era sampling and turns it up a notch. The album also has incredible flow — I’m more tempted to stream this album in full, rather than just a song here and there. Standouts for me are “Waited All Night” and “Falling Together”. show more

Jamie xx has such a brilliant mind. Hearing how his sound pallet has changed through the years since in color, this album is... a refreshing ode to the dance floor. His unique touch of rhythm and signature arrangements make his music so special to the ear. Plenty of ear candy and immersive soundscapes throughout the album. One of my favorites of all time. show more
