NEW π« okay pitchfork just destroyed this album so I had to go and listen. The concept is pretty cool - Halsey recorded 18 tracks, each inspired by a different singer (Bjork, Stevie Knicks, David Bowie etc.) On first listen it does feel a bit disjointed because of all the inspirations clashing. "Ego" is pop-punk (The Cranberries) while "Dog Years" is grungey (PJ Harvey) and "Lucky" is a pure bubblegum pop (inspired by Britney Spears). However ... There is one incredible standout moment in my opinion. "The Arsonist" is a phenomenal song β it's creepy and brooding and could probably be a thom yorke song and no-one would know any different. This absolutely saves the whole record for me.
