witherbee: Gone Now by Bleachers

my best friend from college introduced me to this album, song by song, while driving, cooking dinner together, hanging out in their room. it wasn’t until they moved away that i became intimately familiar with it in its entirety. it’s 2019. i’m driving on 394 to my job at a preschool. my commute isn’t long enough to listen to the whole thing, so i stop midway through Let’s Get Married and pick it back up on my drive home. i miss my friend. i know we generally love to make fun of Jack Antonoff, but this album really is it. it’s satisfyingly self referential, nostalgic, and intimate. it’s about loss and longing and loving a place and all the people you’ve found there. it’s about home, wherever and whoever that may be.

An album that makes me feel younger and older at the same time. I love so much about this album, but especially the parts... of "Goodmorning" that are mixed like the bad Beatles stereo mixes, with the drums panned all the way right and other parts jumping around the stereo field seemingly at random. show more
